If you’ve been following me for a while now, you should be well aware of my love affair with Grey Goose. One of those brands that apart from the actual product, provide a rich experience every single time. And this time was no different. I was invited to Spetses island, just in time for the opening of the Classic Regatta. The Grey Goose team had arranged three speedboats for our transportation to the island from Athens and so that’s how our journey begins. Once arrived in Spetses, we were escorted to our hotel rooms where we were treated to a fantastic summer gift pack. From hats to perfumes to beach towels and of course Grey Goose vodka, everything one needs for a careless summer, it was all there. After checking in, we took our bicycles and headed to the Atelier, an amazing house on the island that the Grey Goose team had transformed into an immersive experience! Two days well spent…There were private chefs and bartenders to cater for us and a big pool to cool off, plus we got to collaborate with the bartenders’ team and create our unique summer cocktail! March has been fantastic so far and a major reason for this has been my experience at the global launch of Deerupt, a newly designed sneaker by Adidas Originals, in Paris. When I was invited by Adidas Greece to participate in this trip I was so thrilled, firstly because I know Adidas’ events are always perfect and secondly because, well, Paris..! Once we arrived all accommodation and transfer had been perfectly arranged by the Adidas team, the weather was perfect and so after checking in at the hip 1K hotel in Le Marais, I just wanted to go out and enjoy this cool city that I hadn’t visited for almost 10 years. The most amazing part of that day though, was the exclusive private dinner in a secret location, somewhere under the Louvre, for the launch of the brand new Derrupt. The next day it was all about networking with the coolest creative crowd and partying hard with sets from Justice, The Blaze and Brodinski. Τhis will be a rather different post than my usual, more travel oriented ones. This post is about my relationship with the sun and the vital importance of light on my everyday life. After what it felt like a long winter, with the shorter days, colder temperature, rainy weather and long dark nights being the normal, all I wanted to do was to take refuge in my warm home and prepare my self for the coming of spring. This is the drive behind this post; the transition from winter to spring. A major turning point from a time of nesting and preparation, to actually becoming more extrovert and working towards our goals. In nature, we can sense this transition even more intensely. We are taken over by its blossom, swept away by the awakening of plants and animals…The days become warmer, the light is much stronger. That’s when I get this dominant feeling of wanderlust again and I just want to be outdoors, soaking in the warm rays of sun like a sponge. Being a photographer, my appreciation for natural light goes even deeper, a never ending quest for capturing that perfect moment of illumination. Greece, this special place in the world, offers me abundance of light. The sun always shines brighter here. The Sun is a Greek God: idolised, worshipped, omnipresent and precarious. ‘He’ feeds my inspiration, but harms my skin. I should never forget ‘His’ power, thus, lesson for the months ahead: protect my ‘surface’ to nourish my ‘inside’.
My first post for 2018 is all about how I spent the last days of 2017. Exactly the same way I’ve been spending it the last few years, in the same house in Ano Doliana in Arcadia, with the same company doing exactly the same things. Things such as eating lots of amazing food, playing cards for hours and when in need of a break, we go for long walks in the nearby chestnut forest. Unfortunately there was no snow this year, check last year’s post though. Having a routine in your vacation is so comforting and clearly I don’t want to change this recipe at all. But I did change one recipe this year and that’s the season’s cocktail. Last year it was all about Grey Goose Le Fizz, this year it is all about Espresso Martinis. The recipe is quite simple, all you need is 45ml Grey Goose Vodka, 25ml espresso, 15ml coffee liqueur, a pinch of fleur de sel, lots of ice and (VERY) good shaking skills. Serve in a martini glass and garnish with grated chocolate or a few coffee beans. This was the perfect accompaniment to our long card sessions, perfect both before or after dinner. Try it out, if you like coffee you will love it!
Just a week before Christmas I visited Epirus for work, my ongoing travel project with Ouzo MINI. First stop was Ioannina and the next few days were spent exploring the magnificent Zagori village complex. I was lucky enough to test drive the brand new Volkswagen Polo during my trip, I drove a bit over 1500km in total, and I can easily say that this little car has grown and feels much bigger in every aspect. When traveling for work things can get very tiring – it’s work after all – and that’s when you need the amenities that a resort such as Grand Forest Metsovo can provide. Some spa treatments and swimming in indoor heated pools never hurt anyone, right? Especially when it’s snowing outside! Check out some photos from my visit below.
Some of you may not know but I am a football fan, especially when it comes to UEFA Champions League finals. So when Heineken invited me to the Champions Voyage I was thrilled. This is a global event that has been taking place in Ibiza and this year, for the first time it took place in Greece. From 3 to 5 of June I would be on a crazy cruise to Mykonos with 450 people from all over the world and I would get the chance to watch the final on a huge screen while traveling in the Aegean sea with dancers and musicians creating a real stadium feel. Sounds great, right? There’s more! Our captain on board was Ronaldinho and I was lucky enough to take a photo with him! The second day of the cruise we had a full on party schedule, first stop at Super Paradise beach and the same night, a club night at Cavo Paradiso. In the end of April I was invited by Nissan in the unique Costa Navarino for the launch presentation of the new Micra. I was actually given the car to drive to beautiful Messinia. The car is totally redesigned, it’s bigger, lower and wider than its predecessor and with a much more premium feel to it. But it’s most valuable characteristic is the overall edgy design of the car, definitely eye candy and extremely photogenic. Nissan had everything perfectly arranged in Costa Navarino, apart from the perfect sea view rooms and excellent dinner, we even got to play golf (or tried to play, as I totally sucked at it). The next morning I got up early and went to the famous Voidokilia beach and took some photos of the car. But I wanted some more, so another trip was arranged, this time with an all star crew, @spathumpa, @dimitrism_ & @jim_ble coming along for a day trip in Chalkida. The rainy weather didn’t stop us from having a blast with this fun car and creating some really nice images. Check out all the photos below, both from Messinia & Chalkida.
Last week I was invited by Grey Goose to their 17th century chateau, located at a tiny village named Juillac-le-Coq, a 20 minute drive from Cognac, right in the heart of the French wine land. The amazing chateau can be visited on an invitation only basis. Once arrived we were greeted by our amazing hostsess Nadia Melot, who literally manages the entire home to the finest detail. From there on we had excellent food and well, lots of the world’s best vodka! The visit included an induction to the history of the brand by the man himself, Francois Thibault, a mixology lesson and a fun bread-making class led by Nadia. Our rooms were very cozy, just like the rest of the communal spaces like Le Salon and the breakfast area in the kitchen. I was more than intrigued when I received my invitation for Christina’s New Year’s Eve party. To me, and to many others I’m sure, the holiday season stopped being fun when my childhood ended. Instead of a time off school, with endless presents, lots of favorite foods and games in the snow with my cousins, it had become a tightly scheduled period, with endless obligations and days of hectic work. Of course, I have to admit there are a few nights that are destined for fun, and Christina’s reception was one of those…Christina is a great cook, with her own catering service, renowned for her amazing parties, always with the best music, the tastiest finger food and the most eclectic cocktails. On the night of the event I had a friendly couple over for some cocktails to warm us up…
