I have neglected my diary I know. I hate excuses but life happens sometimes and it’s too fast so you have to leave some things behind. I’ll try my best now that I am in my forties to better manage my time. This is a rather unusual post for me but maybe one of my favorites. It’s about my birthday party. I was thinking of celebrating my 40th birthday and I wasn’t sure what to do. Invite some close friends for dinner? Invite more for a fun brunch? An afternoon tea party? No. It had to be bigger and more fun. So then it hit me. A party should be a party and the more the merrier is a rule. It had to be a night club, the music had to be perfect for most guests and I had to have premium drinks, just how I like them. So I started searching and it wasn’t long before I visited the brand new location of Athen’s members club, Salon de Bricolage. It was love at first sight! I knew this was the venue for my birthday party, just like I had imagined it; perfect setting and excellent grooves. Now all I had to arrange was the fine drinking, but that was a no brainer to me, being a member of the Grey Goose family all this time. We discussed my party details and they loved the idea of supporting me in this big birthday bash. So as everything was falling into place, all I had to do was fine tune the not so minor details, like the birthday cake that the super talented pâtissier Ianthi created according to the party theme, that was all about metallics. You can see some of the photos from the big night below! A huge thanks to all of you who joined me in this unforgettable party, for all your warm wishes and perfect gifts. I am truly touched, feel loved and I am very very happy. Hope I don’t have to wait for another decade to repeat this!
A collaborative project that came together to soothe painful feelings. The transition from the raw feeling of rage caused by the painful loss of a loved one, to the feeling of acceptance of its constant absence and the final redemption. The poem included in the video is written by Niki Chalkiadaki, music and sound design by Dimitris Dimas, performers Orestis Karydas and Katerina Misichroni. Art direction by Orestis Karydas, directed by me. Entire video shot on the Sony A6300 (thanks so much for this fantastic piece of gear Sony Greece). Big thanks to Thodoris Markou for providing us shelter to create this at his studio, Amynta 13.
This is a fashion editorial that we did with my talented friend Yiorgos Mesimeris in the streets of Plaka, Athens. The idea was obvious; Blending in with the ambience. Seven different minimalist looks with backgrounds to match. The gorgeous Tilde Rasmussen from D Models was in town this rainy day and Marita Politou made sure her hair and make up matched the mood.
Last week my friend Fanis, aka @fanellas and I decided to go on a little scouting trip, to find some interesting spot for photography. We decided to leave Athens and head north. While driving on the national highway E75 we saw some empty silos on the side of the road so we took the first exit and headed there. What we found was quite interesting. Here is a selection of the photos I took. We are definitely going back soon…
After a fantastic week in Kythera, it was time to get back to Kefalonia with Dionysis and prepare to host friends for a few days. And among them was my good friend Efi with her partner Moritz, that moved to Berlin last year and I hadn’t seen her since, so I was more than excited. Also Tanya, that we have known each other for years but never spent holidays together! They only had a few days and Kefalonia is a big island. The program was tight by default, they had to see the top spots on the island! Here are some photos I made during their stay with us!
The beginning of Summer found me working in the Cyclades, shooting photos for the touristic promotion of Syros island. Almost a week there and I hadn’t found some time to shoot anything personal as the schedule was very hectic, trying to shoot the entire island in a few days. Luckily all went well and my last morning on the island I was sure I had to create something for me. So I took my friend Orestis who is also the actor of the video campaign soon to be released and we headed to the beach. I had absolutely nothing in mind, all this was an impromptu shoot that just happened.
It’s been a year since I started trying to get into the new EMST building, Athens’ new Museum of Contemporary Art. I have been negotiating this with the Museum staff and it’s been really difficult for various reasons, one of them being the Museum not being ready. The building is the old Fix beer factory, a landmark in the area which for years has been under reconstruction and most Athenians have been impatient to visit it. The time is near for this, as the first step has been made and slowly the museum will be ready to open to the public. This Saturday 17/5 I got invited to a press conference and I was allowed to bring some fellow photographers with me to shoot the inside of the new EMST. I must say I am very happy I had the opportunity for early access to this beautiful, new art space in the city. I can’t wait to shoot it again and looking forward to see it opening to the public soon. Here are some photos I managed to take so you can also get an idea of the building’s interior, as well as some more fun shots with my friends!
A few weeks ago I received a mail from HM Greece to participate in a private viewing for fashion bloggers & instagrammers of their brand new Conscious Exclusive collection. I am not really a fashion person myself but my friend Maria always inspires me when we shoot together, so I invited her to come with me. Here are some of the shots I took of her with three different outfits from the Conscious Exclusive collection, shot in HM’s showroom in Kolonaki.
For the 11th World Wide Instameet we decided to meet up at the Olympic Sport Complex in Athens on Sunday 22 March. This was my fourth Instameet and I am very happy to see this community grow bigger and stronger every time. The weather didn’t really help much to be outside as much as we would have liked, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Getting out of your comfort zone is always rewarding to your creativity. I got lost inside the complex with @malddim and we had such a laugh. It was great to see old friends and really nice meeting new ones! Here are some shots from the wwim11_athens!
