A few weeks ago I was invited by Blogger Casting to attend the World Tourism Forum in Istanbul. It was a great chance to visit this great city again and also stay at the seductive W Istanbul.. Although I was a bit unlucky with the weather, I did manage to shoot some photos which I have included in this post.
My latest visit to my hometown Kalamata, Messinia, was accompanied by bad weather. But as my friend and fellow photographer Thodoris claims, that’s the best time to go out and shoot. And that’s exactly what I did. I didn’t find any friends that could join me, so I took Grappa (you know, man’s best friend) and we drove to the mountains. It was pouring but the thick fog really got me going…one of my favorite visits in Taygetus so far. I have also included some pictures I took in December in the same area, to make this my first post in 2016! My next goal is to climb this mountain to its peak (2407m) and photograph everything along the way.
Last week my friend Fanis, aka @fanellas and I decided to go on a little scouting trip, to find some interesting spot for photography. We decided to leave Athens and head north. While driving on the national highway E75 we saw some empty silos on the side of the road so we took the first exit and headed there. What we found was quite interesting. Here is a selection of the photos I took. We are definitely going back soon…
This was my third visit to the island of Karpathos in just over a year but the first time I was there in mid October. I was really looking forward to seeing my friend Popi again and also staying at her excellent Silene Villas. The weather was perfect, even better than summer and the beaches were very quiet, totally how I like them!
After a fantastic week in Kythera, it was time to get back to Kefalonia with Dionysis and prepare to host friends for a few days. And among them was my good friend Efi with her partner Moritz, that moved to Berlin last year and I hadn’t seen her since, so I was more than excited. Also Tanya, that we have known each other for years but never spent holidays together! They only had a few days and Kefalonia is a big island. The program was tight by default, they had to see the top spots on the island! Here are some photos I made during their stay with us!
Having spent some time in Kefalonia, we decided we needed a change of scenery. As you probably know, my island of choice is Kythera for a few consecutive years now so the choice was not hard. Here are some photos from the week on the island but also from getting there and back, while we were on the road.
Long time no speak! This summer I thought I would keep a little quiet and combined with all the political turmoil that was going on in my country in July, honestly, I wasn’t in a very photo sharing mood. Summer is over and all I am left with is my camera roll full of photos. Starting from Kefalonia, where I spent most of my vacation this summer, here’s a selection I made!
The beginning of Summer found me working in the Cyclades, shooting photos for the touristic promotion of Syros island. Almost a week there and I hadn’t found some time to shoot anything personal as the schedule was very hectic, trying to shoot the entire island in a few days. Luckily all went well and my last morning on the island I was sure I had to create something for me. So I took my friend Orestis who is also the actor of the video campaign soon to be released and we headed to the beach. I had absolutely nothing in mind, all this was an impromptu shoot that just happened.
It’s been a year since I started trying to get into the new EMST building, Athens’ new Museum of Contemporary Art. I have been negotiating this with the Museum staff and it’s been really difficult for various reasons, one of them being the Museum not being ready. The building is the old Fix beer factory, a landmark in the area which for years has been under reconstruction and most Athenians have been impatient to visit it. The time is near for this, as the first step has been made and slowly the museum will be ready to open to the public. This Saturday 17/5 I got invited to a press conference and I was allowed to bring some fellow photographers with me to shoot the inside of the new EMST. I must say I am very happy I had the opportunity for early access to this beautiful, new art space in the city. I can’t wait to shoot it again and looking forward to see it opening to the public soon. Here are some photos I managed to take so you can also get an idea of the building’s interior, as well as some more fun shots with my friends!
The best time to enjoy Greek islands has to be May in my opinion. Near perfect temperature & uncrowded beaches are more than enough good reasons. First time I visited Kefalonia, not long ago, I couldn’t really enjoy much as it was constantly raining. This time though, I did enjoy the sea and the gorgeous nature. As this island is quite big and has so many places to explore, a weekend is far from sufficient but already planning my return.
