I was more than intrigued when I received my invitation for Christina’s New Year’s Eve party. To me, and to many others I’m sure, the holiday season stopped being fun when my childhood ended. Instead of a time off school, with endless presents, lots of favorite foods and games in the snow with my cousins, it had become a tightly scheduled period, with endless obligations and days of hectic work. Of course, I have to admit there are a few nights that are destined for fun, and Christina’s reception was one of those…Christina is a great cook, with her own catering service, renowned for her amazing parties, always with the best music, the tastiest finger food and the most eclectic cocktails. On the night of the event I had a friendly couple over for some cocktails to warm us up…
Just like last year, I am back in the wonderful village of Ano Doliana, in Arkadia, to spend the holiday season with good friends. I guess you can call it luck, but exactly like the previous time, it snowed while I was there. And this village and it’s surrounding area look fantastic in snow. Of course I didn’t miss a chance to get out and take some photos of the beautiful winter landscapes. I had another good reason this time; to test my brand new Canon 5D IV and of course the fantastic Sony A6300. If you are ever in this little village, it’s good to know there are two traditional taverns serving really nice home made food and of course the best lamb chops and round cut pan-fried potatoes. It was great fun making a portrait of one of the owners! Check the photos below.
Somehow Santorini has never lived up to the hype in my book. Perhaps this has something to do with me spending a part of my military service on this island back in 2001. It had been many years since I visited and I can say this island has changed a lot. A lot of development, many hotels and hundreds of houses have been built in areas that didn’t even exist residentially years ago. However, what has remained intact, is the amazing beauty that has made this island what it is today. A photographer’s dream, literally, everywhere you look you can snap an amazing photo. I was lucky enough to stay at Oia Mare Villas for a few days and explore beautiful Oia, one of my favorite regions on the island. It was also a good chance to test out my brand new Sony A6300! Check a selection of photos I made from my October visit in Santorini!
This year I visited Mykonos quite a few times for work and pleasure. Luckily at the very beginning of the season and even better, at the end of it. It still remains one of my favorite islands to visit as long as it’s not July or August. Here are some photos I took during my visit in mid September.
Just like the last couple of years, there has to be at least one summer visit in the Ionian islands and to be more specific, in Kefalonia. There are a few posts already about Kefalonia (and you can find them here, here, here and here) but I can’t ever get enough of this beautiful island. Especially when I have friend that like to pose for me around! Check some of the photos I took in August on the island!
Two years later and I’m back on this little volcanic island on the southeast Aegean. This time I didn’t get the chance to go to the volcano but you can see the photos from my previous visit here. Nisyros is a very unique island, there is a very special energy to it (some say it’s the volcano) and some of the most otherworldly landscapes. I stayed at the wonderful village of Emporios again and had excellent food at Triantafylos’ taverna almost every single day. A must do apart from visiting the volcano is a day trip to the nearby island of Gyali for swimming or snorkeling. Below are some photos from my latest visit!
Patmos had been on my list for a while now and this July I finally made it there. It’s definitely a very special place and I would recommend it to everyone seeking tranquility in their vacation. I was lucky enough to be with friends that know the island very well so my time was well spent. I was even luckier to be a guest at the excellent villas Onar just a few minutes away from Petra beach which made the whole experience truly unforgettable. I will definitely try to be back next year!
Summer came early for me this year, as I was in the Cyclades from late Spring for work. But I always try to find some time to make photographs for myself. All the images in this post are shot on the island of Mykonos from late April to mid June. Most of them shot with a full frame DSLR but also some photos with medium format film.
A few months ago I visited Nefeles Mainalon Resort to shoot an editorial for Celestino. We planned ahead with the rest of the team and we also collected some dresses from the Greek fashion designers MiRo. Here are some of the shots I chose from that particular shoot with our model Mariana. It was a very cold day on the mountain but we enjoyed every minute of it! Styled by Yiorgos Mesimeris muah Konstantinos Sakkas.
My childhood friend Gina has been living in Bologna for many years now and although she always told me to visit I never made it. Until a few weeks ago that is, where I finally made a long weekend trip to this beautiful Italian city. And to be honest, three days are more than enough to see most of it and long enough to survive the fantastic but fatty food that comes with it. My favorite place for lunch was Tamburini and for dinner it was the excellent trattoria della Gigina! I returned to Athens feeling fatter than ever but I would definitely do it again soon. Here are some photos from my trip!
