If you’ve been following me for a while now, you should be well aware of my love affair with Grey Goose. One of those brands that apart from the actual product, provide a rich experience every single time. And this time was no different. I was invited to Spetses island, just in time for the opening of the Classic Regatta. The Grey Goose team had arranged three speedboats for our transportation to the island from Athens and so that’s how our journey begins. Once arrived in Spetses, we were escorted to our hotel rooms where we were treated to a fantastic summer gift pack. From hats to perfumes to beach towels and of course Grey Goose vodka, everything one needs for a careless summer, it was all there. After checking in, we took our bicycles and headed to the Atelier, an amazing house on the island that the Grey Goose team had transformed into an immersive experience! Two days well spent…There were private chefs and bartenders to cater for us and a big pool to cool off, plus we got to collaborate with the bartenders’ team and create our unique summer cocktail! Just after I returned to Athens after my visit to Africa on the 7th of June, I made a quick stop home to get ready for a weekend in Copenhagen. I was invited by Toyota Greece for the launch of the new Aygo. I was very tired from consecutive travels but also thrilled at the same time as I had never been to Denmark before. Best part, Dionysis was traveling with me, Sofia from Toyota was incredibly fun and last but not least, Evelyn was also coming along from Cyprus. All the above combined with an unexpectedly warm weather which had everyone out and about enjoying the nordic summer was a great mix for an exciting weekend. Toyota had made all arrangements, from our accommodation to our fine dinning sessions and of course our itinerary for driving around the city with the new Aygo. Check some of the photos I took!
Just after the Deerupt event was finished (see all about this here) I decided to extend my stay in Paris, just a little longer. Luckily, Divouision came along from Athens, just in time for the weekend. So that morning I said goodbye to the wonderful Adidas team and I went to check in my new hotel for the next days, the super stylish Hotel Square Louvois, located in the heart of Paris’ Rive Droite. I was greeted by the most friendly staff before being escorted to my high ceiling room (insider tip: rooms on the 2nd floor have a higher ceiling). I appreciate good design and I couldn’t help but notice all the small beautiful details in the hotel itself and of course in my room. Loved the Michael Anastasiades Flos lamps all over the interiors and the color palette used throughout the establishment. There’s also a cavernous basement with a small gym and a heated pool to relax after the long hours of walking, exploring the city. So many things to see and do, but so little time. We focused on eating, always a good place to start when traveling. Had delicious lobster rolls at Frenchie To Go, a long sushi tasting menu at Kinugawa in Matignon, a Michelin starred lunch at the Palais Royal restaurant and a super comfort dinner at Jones. Long walks by the Seine, some art watching and lots of window shopping completed the activities list! The final day before leaving we visited the Fondation Louis Vuitton in the snowy Bois de Boulogne. Check out some of the photos I took during my stay!
March has been fantastic so far and a major reason for this has been my experience at the global launch of Deerupt, a newly designed sneaker by Adidas Originals, in Paris. When I was invited by Adidas Greece to participate in this trip I was so thrilled, firstly because I know Adidas’ events are always perfect and secondly because, well, Paris..! Once we arrived all accommodation and transfer had been perfectly arranged by the Adidas team, the weather was perfect and so after checking in at the hip 1K hotel in Le Marais, I just wanted to go out and enjoy this cool city that I hadn’t visited for almost 10 years. The most amazing part of that day though, was the exclusive private dinner in a secret location, somewhere under the Louvre, for the launch of the brand new Derrupt. The next day it was all about networking with the coolest creative crowd and partying hard with sets from Justice, The Blaze and Brodinski. Τhis will be a rather different post than my usual, more travel oriented ones. This post is about my relationship with the sun and the vital importance of light on my everyday life. After what it felt like a long winter, with the shorter days, colder temperature, rainy weather and long dark nights being the normal, all I wanted to do was to take refuge in my warm home and prepare my self for the coming of spring. This is the drive behind this post; the transition from winter to spring. A major turning point from a time of nesting and preparation, to actually becoming more extrovert and working towards our goals. In nature, we can sense this transition even more intensely. We are taken over by its blossom, swept away by the awakening of plants and animals…The days become warmer, the light is much stronger. That’s when I get this dominant feeling of wanderlust again and I just want to be outdoors, soaking in the warm rays of sun like a sponge. Being a photographer, my appreciation for natural light goes even deeper, a never ending quest for capturing that perfect moment of illumination. Greece, this special place in the world, offers me abundance of light. The sun always shines brighter here. The Sun is a Greek God: idolised, worshipped, omnipresent and precarious. ‘He’ feeds my inspiration, but harms my skin. I should never forget ‘His’ power, thus, lesson for the months ahead: protect my ‘surface’ to nourish my ‘inside’.
I have been relatively quiet, it’s winter after all and I have been trying to get back into fitness after the Xmas holidays – going to the gym and all and enjoying some free time at home. But early February I was sent to Kavala on assignment with Taxidia magazine by Kathinerini. Although not the best time to visit, as the weather can be quite tricky, especially in February and more specifically in northern Greece, I was so excited as Kavala has been one of those places I had heard so much about but never visited. When I found out we were going to be staying at one of Greece’s most iconic and historical hotels, Imaret, I was more than thrilled. This is a destination hotel by all means, a good enough reason to visit Kavala for. Of course the city itself is very pretty, with the old town built under a castle and surrounded by the sea, with many tavernas serving fresh fish delicacies and some really nice cafes and bars to enjoy a night out. I would definitely love to visit this city again during late spring or early summer, as the locals told me, it’s quite different and more vibrant. Plus there are many beautiful beaches nearby and of course Thasos, another island on my bucket list. My first post for 2018 is all about how I spent the last days of 2017. Exactly the same way I’ve been spending it the last few years, in the same house in Ano Doliana in Arcadia, with the same company doing exactly the same things. Things such as eating lots of amazing food, playing cards for hours and when in need of a break, we go for long walks in the nearby chestnut forest. Unfortunately there was no snow this year, check last year’s post though. Having a routine in your vacation is so comforting and clearly I don’t want to change this recipe at all. But I did change one recipe this year and that’s the season’s cocktail. Last year it was all about Grey Goose Le Fizz, this year it is all about Espresso Martinis. The recipe is quite simple, all you need is 45ml Grey Goose Vodka, 25ml espresso, 15ml coffee liqueur, a pinch of fleur de sel, lots of ice and (VERY) good shaking skills. Serve in a martini glass and garnish with grated chocolate or a few coffee beans. This was the perfect accompaniment to our long card sessions, perfect both before or after dinner. Try it out, if you like coffee you will love it!
