Tilos

Island hopping continues and my next destination is the nearby island of Tilos. Much bigger than Chalki meant more beaches to discover. I had great food in Michalis taverna in Livadia, at Kastro in Megalo Chorio & at Nitsa’s in Eristos. Great beaches like Tholos and Agios Sergios are definitely worth the hike. Loved the village of Megalo Chorio, don’t forget to grab breakfast at Sofia’s “kafenio”. One of the most amazing things to see and do though is visit the abandoned village of Mikro Chorio for a drink in the evening under the sounds of classic rock and a unique night sky. Tilos was by far the island with the least light pollution, so I managed to take some pics of the Milky way during the small hours. Click and have a look.

Chalki

After having spent five awesome days in Karpathos it was time to move on. Next destination, the tiny but picturesque island of Chalki. Our expectations were quite high and this little gem of an island did deliver! Having your room right on the water really gives a feeling of relaxation. Also, it really helped getting to know a local hero, Michalis, who took us to some serious hikes, the uncharted kind. Check out some of the photos that I took while spending three days on the island.

Next stop, Karpathos

So after returning to Athens from a fantastic week on Kythera, I just had enough time to wash some clothes and embark on a journey to the south Aegean. My first stop would be Karpathos. An amazing island with fantastic beaches, picturesque villages keeping strong traditions, delicious food and super friendly people! Here you can see all the non iPhone shots, taken with the dslr, which is not really easy to carry around all the time. For the mobile shots you can always check the #summer_odyssey hashtag on Instagram.

Summer begins in Kythera

I may be very predictable when choosing summer vacation spots but, truly, I am more than biased. There is absolutely no way I will not visit Kythera at some point during swimming season. This time I wasn’t all that inspired to take many photos, maybe because I have already taken quite a few on this beautiful island, but also because I was with great friends and sometimes this just makes you want to experience the actual moments rather than capturing them.

Little Fig Tree

It’s always the weekend. I just need to leave the city. The hot summer weather just amplifies this wanderlust. Thanks to Fanis and Lia, I quenched my thirst for a bit of adventure. They invited me over to their rural house in a small village near Mycenae. I was ready in an instant, packed the camera bag and just left the city behind.
