Following my great stay in Naxos, next stop was Folegandros. An island I was visiting for the first time, although I felt familiar with, since I had heard so much about it from friends. And it was all true!
Folegandros is a small island that has had quite a touristic development rush going on in the last decades, but in a non destructive way in the most part. Everything is kept very tidy and clean, even during busy August, and there are interesting options to stay, eat and drink as well as a few nice beaches. Due to it’s popularity the last few years it’s not easy to find rooms in the hotels if you don’t book well in advance. That was the case with me and so we only found a double room at Chora Resort, which is located in Chora, but for it’s price tag, definitely not the best option.
Make sure you eat the local pasta called Matsata served in various ways, definitely visit Galifos beach for some privacy (and beach massage if you’re lucky). From there you can swim to another nearby beach, Agios Nikolaos. Snorkeling gear is highly recommended!
